Winter Storm Update #3: Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 – 12:00 p.m.

Out of State Crews Join PSO in Storm Preparations

With ice forecasted to continue through Saturday night, PSO has positioned local and out of state crews in our service areas to restore any power outages that may occur. Crews from Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina Tennessee, Kansas, Maryland, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas and Louisiana began arriving in Oklahoma yesterday to avoid potential travel delays. They are located throughout PSO’s service area and are being briefed on safety issues and work practices.

PSO has approximately 2,100 workers deployed in key locations in our service areas. PSO has been working on storm preparations since forecasts early in the week indicated significant risk of ice related power outages. The greatest risk of outages with this storm is for a gradual accumulation of ice on trees and power lines caused by several waves of freezing precipitation.
