US trio plot 350MW PV build in Texas

Work will start in the summer on the Red-Tailed Hawk project with commissioning in summer 2022

A trio of companies in the US are to work together on the development and construction of a 350MW solar farm in Texas.

A joint venture of Solar Plus Development and Avondale Solar called AP Solar Holdings is partnering with J-Power USA Development to build the Red-Tailed Hawk project in Wharton county starting in the second half of this year.

The project is scheduled to be operational by the summer of 2022.
Red-Tailed Hawk is located close to the Houston metro area and is expected to experience minimal curtailment and basis risk to the premium Houston zone of ERCOT, the developers said.

AP Solar Holdings chief executive Trevor Nash said: “We are very pleased to be working with J-Power USA on the development of Red-Tailed Hawk solar, and, based on the market dynamics and data that we are seeing, Red-Tailed Hawk Solar will be well positioned to provide low cost renewable power to the Houston zone.”
