SPP INTEGRATED MARKETPLACE TIMELINE CHANGES

spp-da-changes

SPP is on schedule to implement the new Marketplace timelines per the proposed tariff changes as a part of Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) Order No. 809, which requires modifying the timelines for SPP’s Day-Ahead Market and Day-Ahead Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC) process. The SPP tariff and Marketplace Protocol changes are documented in Revision Request 100 – Gas-Electric Coordination Market Timeline Changes.

SPP will honor the new Marketplace timeline beginning Sept. 30, 2016, to be effective for the Oct. 1, 2016, operating day. Please refer to the Member Impacting Project Overview (MIPO) using the following link for additional information: Marketplace Timeline Changes.

Beginning Sept. 30, 2016, SPP will close the Day-Ahead market at 09:30 and will post results at 14:00. Day-Ahead RUC reoffer period will close at 14:45 and DA RUC will complete by 17:15.

SPP has been actively working with its members through the Change Working Group to ensure a successful implementation of the timeline changes. Dates of note include:

Testing Kickoff Meeting: July 28, 2016 (Register for Conference Call)

Market Participant Testing: Aug. 1-29, 2016

Testing Status Meeting: Aug. 15, 2016 (Register for Conference Call)

On Aug. 4, 2015, SPP submitted its compliance filing in response to the FERC order issued March 20, 2014, regarding gas-electric coordination needs. As a part of the August filing, SPP proposed tariff revisions in compliance with Order No. 809. In December 2015, FERC accepted SPP’s compliance filing to be effective Oct. 1, 2016, and they found SPP has shown sufficient cause to limit further tariff changes.

Questions regarding these changes and implementation should be submitted through the Request Management System (RMS) using the Quick Pick: Project Inquiries > Subtype 1: Enhanced Combined Cycle – Gas Day.
