Devaluing Oyster Creek power plant is not in New Jerseyans’ best interest

As the nation’s oldest commercial reactor, flagged by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for some recent safety violations, the Oyster Creek nuclear plant is right between the crosshairs.

Exelon, the company that runs the Lacey Township plant, plans to retire the facility in 2019. However, nuclear critics want the 45-year-old plant retired now, claiming it poses a hazard to people in Ocean County and beyond.
