Low natural gas prices, light demand cut NYISO prices in April: report

Lower natural gas prices combined with lighter demand to reduce electricity prices in the New York Independent System Operator in April, a report to be presented to stakeholders Wednesday showed.

NYISO’s locational marginal prices averaged $28.35/MWh in April, compared with $52.09/MWh in March and $46.09/MWh in April 2014, according to a report to be presented by Rana Mukerji, NYISO senior vice president for market structures. The report was posted on the NYISO website Friday as part of the materials for Wednesday’s Business Issues Committee meeting.
