1. Define / Organize Specify data sources and event streams, trader defined rules, recommended actions and strategies for immediate processing of complex events; and organize in a trading knowledge base.
2. Collect / Define Collect data and continuous event streams for real-time, automatic detection and valuation of significant opportunities and threats in accordance with trader defined rules and strategies.
3. Monitor / Alert Monitor incoming data for visualization and ad hoc analysis of market conditions, and provide alerts to detected opportunities and threats with recommended responses and supporting data.
4. Decide / Act Process alerts by facilitating quick decision process with clear, timely, relevant information and access to previous instances of similar alerts; and initiating appropriate actions based on trader's experience.
5. Record / Share Record alerts and actions in the knowledge base and share as allowed by trader, department and organization policies, to serve as reference for subsequent handling of same alert condition as well as assessment and adjustment of rules.
6. Appraise / Evaluate Appraise actual value as compared to projected value of actions taken in response to alerts as part of predetermined evaluation schedule ( e.g., monthly, weekly, daily) for individual, group or enterprise review.
7. Report / Improve Utilize reports to present evaluation findings and to add/edit/reinforce rules in order to evolve the knowledge base and improve the trading organization's collective intelligence and increase competitive advantage.
