Chief Operations Officer To Leave PJM

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — PJM Interconnection said today that Michael J. Kormos, executive vice president and chief operations officer, has announced his intention to leave PJM. He will remain with PJM through April 15 to ensure a seamless transition.

“We are grateful for Mike’s countless contributions to PJM,” said Andrew L. Ott, PJM president and chief executive officer. “His relentless focus on driving operational excellence has helped solidify our reputation as a grid operator. After a very long career with PJM, he has decided that it is time to move on and pursue something new. The entire executive team and I wish him the best in his future.”

Kormos has worked at PJM for 27 years. In his current position, he is responsible for System Operations, System Planning, State and Member Services and the corporate compliance functions.

PJM does not intend to fill the COO position at this time. Ott said that, after some review, Kormos’ responsibilities will be transitioned to other members of the executive team. In the interim, many of the functions that reported to Kormos will report directly to Ott.

“We have a strong management team that will carry on the day-to-day operations and execution of PJM’s long-term strategy,” Ott said. “PJM is in a strong position and will continue as a leader in reliable grid operations, efficient markets and infrastructure planning.”
