ERCOT SETS TWO NEW WIND POWER RECORDS

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas set a new wind-generation output record of 13,883 MW Sunday as well as a new record for percentage of load, the grid operator said Tuesday.

The record was set at 11:07 am CST Sunday and represented 41.27% of ERCOT’s load at the time, according to a report from ERCOT. This was the fourth such wind record set in as many months.

In addition, ERCOT wind output accounted for 44.71% of load at 3:05 am CST Sunday, when wind output reached 13,057 MW, according to ERCOT.

The previous wind record was set November 25 at 12,971 MW and represented 36.86% of load at the time. Before that, the record was 12,238 MW set October 22 and before that it was 11,467 MW set September 13.

Daily wind output has averaged roughly 6,150 MW to date in December. In comparison, daily wind output averaged 3,775 MW throughout December 2014.
